It was early in the morning when I got up, smiling, looking over to the door to see my wedding suit hanging on the handle. Getting out of bed, I walk over to the balcony and look through the pristine glass doors at the snowy scenery in front of me. She wanted to get married in winter, I wanted to get married in the mountains. It worked out well. I couldn't wait to see her beautiful blonde hair, her white dress, her smile. In only a few hours I would be with her forever, and I couldn't be happier.
Standing on the platform outside, my breaths come out as a white cloud. Waiting, waiting for her to walk down that isle. As I'm turning to look at Hunter, my best man, the music plays and I turn to look at her immediately. The way her dress flowed out, her long blond curls reaching her waist. There were snowflakes on her veil and her hair, the way they sparkled made her all the more beautiful. The way her light blue eyes looked at me, full of love. Her bright white smile lit up her face. As she finally reached me, I took her warm hands in mine and smiled as we recited our vows, followed by a kiss I never wanted to end.
Months after, she came to me with incredible news, life changing news. "Ryder, I need to tell you something." She said, sitting down with a gentle smile. "Yea?" I said, looking up from my book. "Just look at this." She held out a white stick in her hand and at first I was confused, until I realized what it was. Taking the pregnancy test from her hand, shock, happiness and disbelief took me all at once. There it was, a positive. "Oh my god... This is amazing..." I whispered, pulling her in and hugging her. "I know!" She squealed, kissing me on the cheek.
Ninth months later, my son was born. We named him after his uncle Hunter. He has his mothers light blue eyes and my dark brown hair. That day was one of the best days ever, I had just gotten a new job for a games company that I'd been wanting to work for for a while, I found my wedding ring that I'd lost the week before, and to top it all off, I got to see my wife and my sons gorgeous smiles.
I can't change what happened, but I can change what happens. I still remember the past, I'll never forget it, but the present is where my mind rests. My name is Ryder, and this was the story of where I am today.
